Kung ang pagkakamali natin sa ibang tao ay maaari magbunga ng hindi magandang kahihinatnan, lalo na sa Diyos. Ang Diyos ay banal, ano mang paglabag sa Kanyang utos ay may karampatang parusa.
Malinaw na ang kabayaran ng kasalanan ay kamatayan (Rom 6:23). Ito ang nangyari kay Adan. Ang banta ng Diyos ng kamatayan sa araw ng pagkain niya ng bunga ay nagpapakita ng katiyakan ng kaparusahan. Ang kamatayan na tinutukoy dito ay tumutukoy sa pisikal at espirituwal. Pisikal dahil ang sumpa ng kasalanan ay pumasok sa kanyang katawan, at espirituwal, dahil ang kanyang kaluluwa ay naging patay sa kasalanan (Eph 2:1) at nahiwalay sa Diyos (Isaiah 59:2).
Maaaring ipakita sa mga bata ang kaseryosohan ng utos ng Diyos. Pwede ring i-ugnay ito ng mga magulang sa kanilang pagtatama sa mga bata sa tuwing sila ay sumusuway. Kaya nararapat nilang seryosohin ang mga utos ng mga magulang dahil sila ang itinalaga ng Diyos na dapat nilang sundin.

Q.29. What did God threaten in the covenant of life?
A. To punish Adam with death if he disobeyed God. (Gen 2:17)

If committing mistakes with other people can have bad consequences, so it is with God. God is holy, and any violation of His commandments is punishable.
Clearly, the wages of sin is death (Rom 6:23). This is what happened to Adam. God’s threat of death on the day he ate the fruit shows the certainty of punishment. The death referred to here is physical and spiritual. Physical, because the curse of sin entered his body; and spiritual, because his soul became dead to sin (Eph. 2: 1) and separated from God (Isaiah 59: 2).
Children can be shown the seriousness of God’s command. Parents can also link this to their corrective discipline of children whenever they disobey. This shows the need for the children to take the commands of their parents seriously. God ordained them, and children should obey.
