Tinupad ni Hesus ang buong kautusan para sa Kanyang mga tao at nagdusa mula sa kaparusahan na nararapat dahil sa kanilang kasalanan. (1 Pt 2:21-24).
Sapagkat ukol dito kayo’y tinawag, sapagkat si Cristo man ay nagdusa alang-alang sa inyo, na kayo’y iniwanan ng halimbawa, upang sumunod kayo sa kanyang mga yapak. “Siya’y hindi nagkasala, at walang natagpuang pandaraya sa kanyang bibig.” Nang siya’y alipustain, hindi siya gumanti; nang siya’y magdusa, hindi siya nagbanta, kundi ipinagkatiwala ang kanyang sarili doon sa humahatol na may katarungan. Siya mismo ang nagdala ng ating mga kasalanan sa kanyang katawan sa punungkahoy, upang tayo’y mamatay sa mga kasalanan at mabuhay sa katuwiran; dahil sa kanyang mga sugat ay gumaling kayo.

Malinaw sa banal na kasulatan ang dalawang aspeto ng pagtupad ng ating Panginoong Hesu-Kristo sa Tipan ng Biyaya. Q.49. How did Christ fulfill the covenant of grace?
A. Christ obeyed the whole law for His people, and then suffered the punishment due for their sins. (1 Pt 2:21-24).
For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps. He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth. When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly. He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.

Two aspects of our Lord Jesus Christ’s fulfillment of the Covenant of Grace are clear in scripture. First is His active obedience, by perfectly obeying the whole law of God. He did not sin, and His whole life, heart, mind, and strength were spent for the glory of the Father. Second is passive obedience, by His obedience to the point of death. By the shedding of His blood, He paid the wages of sin for His people and satisfied the wrath and justice of God.
Children should understand that only Jesus is able to fulfill the demands of God’s law and righteousness. Even if they give their whole lives, it is impossible for them to do so. As we teach them to be obedient to God and to us as their parents, we should lead to their trust in Jesus as the only One who can do God’s will without blemish.
