May iisang Diyos at may Tatlong Persona. Mag-kaiba ang being o nature at persons.

English version

Q.7. In how many Persons does this one God exist?
A.    In three Persons. (2 Cor 13:4)

The teaching about the Holy Trinity is complex, not only for adults but especially for children. So it must be explained carefully. Don’t forget to review question # 6, that there is only One True God, because the child may say that there are three Gods.

Explain to the children that just because we do not fully understand it does not mean we will not accept it. This is according to the clear revelation of God’s Word. It cannot simply be explained through reasoning or logic, and it is a mystery that requires divine revelation.

Also, show the children that there is no contradiction in the Trinity. We do not say that there is one and three Gods or that there is one and three persons. There is one God and there are Three Persons. Regarding the Trinity, if the question is “what” is the Trinity, the answer is God, and if the question is “who”, the answer is three persons, which will be further answered by question # 8. Being or nature and persons are different.

We can use an illustration (this is not a perfect illustration because there is more than one human being, but the being of God is only one). For example, a human being is human. Explain to the child that Mom, Dad, and baby are human, but they have differences, Mom is not Dad, and baby is not Mom. In this way, the oneness of God (one humanity), and the distinction of persons can be understood.

This teaching really challenges our understanding. It should be made clear to the children that because God is eternal, infinite, He is the Creator, and we are creatures, and finite, we cannot fully understand this teaching. It is only by faith and embracing the revelation of Scripture.

To God be the glory!
