Sino ang hahatol? Si Cristo Jesus na namatay, oo, siyang muling binuhay mula sa mga patay, na siya ring nasa kanan ng Diyos, na siya ring namamagitan para sa atin.

Si Cristo ay ang dakilang punong pari. Higit na dakila Siya sa pari ng lumang tipan dahil sa Kanyang pagkapari ayon sa pagkapari ni Melquizedek (Hebrews 5:5-6). Ito ay nangangahulugan na mas dakila Siya sa pagkapari ni Aaron (si Abraham ay nag-handog kay Melquizedek) at ang Kanyang pagkapari ay hindi magwawakas (hindi naitala ang pinagmulan at katapusan ng pagkapari ni Melquizedek). Q.72. How is Christ a priest?
A. Christ died for our sins, and continues to pray for us. (Rom 8:34)
Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.

Christ is the great high priest. He is greater than the priest of the old covenant because His priesthood is according to the priesthood of Melchizedek (Hebrews 5: 5-6). This means that He is greater than the priesthood of Aaron (Abraham offered to Melchizedek) and that His priesthood will not end (the origin and end of Melchizedek’s priesthood are not recorded). Christ alone is the Great High Priest, and there is no subsequent to Him (Psalm 110: 4).
As the High Priest, He laid down His very life for His people, and now He is currently praying and interceding for them that they may persevere till the end.
