Dahil si Cristo ang Dakilang propeta, at Siya mismo ang Salita at Anak ng Diyos, kailangan Siya ng lahat ng mga tao. Ang tao ay likas na mangmang sa kung ano ang nais ng Ama. Ibig sabihin nito, hindi natin dapat na pagkatiwalaan ang ating sariling karunungan (Kawikaan 3:5-7) at magtiwala lamang sa inihayag na Salita ng Diyos.

Dapat din nating linawin na hindi ito nangangahulugan na walang alam ang mga tao, dahil malinaw sa Bibliya na inihayag ng Diyos ang dapat nating malaman (Romans 1:18-21). Ito ay tumutukoy sa pagpili sa tahasang pagpili ng tao sa kamangmangan at paghihimagsik laban sa Diyos (Roma 8:7). Kaya napakahalaga ang pagturo sa mga bata ng Salita ng Panginoon. Ito ay makakapag-turo sa kanila tungo sa kaligtasan sa pamamagitan ng pananampalataya kay Cristo Jesus (2 Tim 3:15).

Sa Diyos lamang ang papuri!

Q.74.  Why do you need Christ as your prophet?
A.    Because I am ignorant by nature. (Rom 3:11)

No one understands; no one seeks for God.

Romans 3:11 ESV

Because Christ is the Great Prophet, and He Himself is the Word and the Son of God, all people need Him. Man is inherently ignorant of God’s will. This means that we should not trust our own wisdom (Proverbs 3: 5-7) and trust only in the revealed Word of God.

We must also make it clear that this does not mean that people know nothing about God because it is clear in the Bible that God has revealed what we should know (Romans 1: 18-21). It refers to man’s explicit choice in ignorance and rebellion against God (Romans 8: 7). That is why it is so important to teach children the Word of the Lord. It can make them wise unto salvation through faith in Christ Jesus (2 Tim 3:15).
